Generocity, a Hong Kong-based charity, launched this annual competition to recognize innovative ideas that contribute to Hong Kong’s international development efforts and shape its position on the world stage while creating positive impacts worldwide. The prize will honor innovative concepts that advance Hong Kong’s international development efforts while shaping its role on global stages and producing positive change worldwide.
Hong Kong Science Museum (HKScM) today unveiled “2024 The Future Science Prize”, an exhibition honouring awardees of the 2024 Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize that recognizes those scientists who have made outstanding contributions towards developing cutting-edge technologies that benefit humanity.
As well as winning a cash prize, the winning team will also receive a trophy and certificate of achievement from Hong Kong Science Industry Experts as well as career guidance. All applicants must be Hong Kong residents aged 35 or younger and their work should have been completed within the past five years; its value should include scientific or technological innovation with social or economic ramifications.
Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra won the Gramophone Classical Music Prize – widely considered the “Oscars of classical music” – at a ceremony in London last month, becoming the first Asian orchestra to ever take home this honor. This award honors ensembles that have made significant recorded contributions.
HK Prize The Board of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize is responsible for interpreting its articles of charter, suggesting key scientific research fields that should be included, and appointing members of Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team as well as setting requirements for nominating experts. Furthermore, each year the Board determines final review results and holds an award ceremony to commemorate them.
The prize money of HK$5 Million will go toward redeveloping Hong Kong Science Park, one of the flagship projects of HKScM. Science and Technology Parks Initiative will play a pivotal role in driving growth of innovation ecosystem by providing facilities and resources for start-ups and established companies alike to innovate in science and technology fields. Hong Kong will benefit from increased activity in related disciplines like biomedicine, robotics and artificial intelligence as it strengthens its international competitiveness as a knowledge-based economy. For optimal prize fund expenditure, the Hong Kong Sports Federation (HKSF) has implemented numerous cost-cutting measures, such as making sure prize funds do not surpass their budgeted amount and using money raised through bets on prize winners to pay various taxes or support various causes.
